From 11 to 13 March 2024, during the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, three departments of the Flemish government have joined forces to organise an international conference on the transition to sustainable food systems. Microbial protein is the subject of one of the interactive sessions.

For three days, international and national stakeholders will reflect in Leuven on the challenges and prospects of a sustainable food system. The aim is to create synergies between science, policy and practice. Scientists, policy-makers, civil society and industry will participate and co-organise, more than 20 thematic sessions!

After four years of the Farm to Fork Strategy, the introduction of Flanders’ Food Strategy and countless other initiatives, it’s time to take stock of what we have done so far. What worked and did not work? How should we move forward when the next EU and Belgian legislative term starts?

Panel discussions, lectures, workshops, innovative pitches, site visits and a food market will be offered during our three-day conference. Both participants and partners can contribute to how a sustainable food system should look like.
